The Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) says today’s announcement that the final cost for the Bluenose has ballooned to $23.8 million, begs for the government to hold those responsible for this debacle to account.
“Taxpayers deserve to know that our government takes the millions wasted on this vessel seriously, and will hold those responsible for this mess accountable,” said Kevin Lacey Atlantic Director with the CTF.
“Millions of dollars have been wasted. Bad decisions and ineptitude has switched the Bluenose from a source of pride to the butt of jokes,” added Lacey. “Unbelievably, the number of people being held responsible for this has been a big fat zero.”
The CTF contends that doing nothing will send the message to the entire government that it’s ok to waste money and mismanage a project. The CTF is calling on the premier to send a signal that this type of waste is not tolerated.
